श्रीमद्भागवत साक्षात् भगवान्का स्वरूप है। यह रसके मूर्तिमान विग्रह स्वयं-भगवान् ब्रजेन्द्रनन्दन श्रीकृष्णके मधुरतम प्रेमरसका छलकता हुआ सागर है। इसीलिए तो रसिक, भावुक-भक्त इसमें सदैव अवगाहन करते हैं। इसको सम्पूर्ण भारतीय वाङ्मय वेदरूपी कल्पवृक्षका परिपक्व रसमय फल कहा गया है। इसमें भी गोपी-प्रेमको श्रीमद्भागवतका प्रतिपाद्य अथवा चरम प्रयोजन निर्धारित किया गया है। श्रीमद्भागवतीय वेणुगीतमें उक्त गोपी-प्रेमकी कतिपय उत्तुंग लहरें दृष्टिगोचर होती हैं। रसिक भक्तजन इन लहरियोंमें डूबते रहते हैं; उन्हें अपने तनकी भी सुध-बुध नहीं रहती। उक्त सागरकी बेलाभूमिपर खड़े श्रद्धालु भक्तके हृदयमें भी अवगाहन करनेका लोभ अङ्कुरित हो जाता है। श्रीराधा-भाव एवं कान्तिसे देदीप्यमान, रसराज-महाभावके मिलित स्वरूप श्रीचैतन्य महाप्रभुने श्रीस्वरूप दामोदर एवं श्रीरायरामानन्दके साथ श्रीगंभीरामें इस वेणुगीतका जिस प्रकारसे रसास्वादन किया, उसके कुछ रसबिन्दुओंका श्रील सनातन गोस्वामी और श्रील जीव गोस्वामीने श्रीमद्भागवतकी वैष्णवतोषणी' टीकामें संग्रह किया है। उसीको उनके उच्छिष्ट या महाप्रसादके रूपमें श्रीविश्वनाथ चक्रवर्ती ठाकुरने अपनी सारार्थदर्शिनी' टीका द्वारा सारे विश्वको वितरित करनेका प्रयास किया है।

This book presents a series of lectures spoken in English giving commentry on every sloka of the 21^st chapter of the 10^th canto of Srimad Bhagvatam. his highest worshipers the gopis, explain their feelings of seperation for Krishna and manifest symptoms of maha-bhava.
